Commercially processed soaps remove the rich moisturizer glycerin from their products, but our handmade small batches maintain the glycerin to lubricate the skin. All of our Jonathan Kent Soaps are incredible moisturizers that cleanse your skin naturally with all-natural ingredients.

Goat’s Milk has Alpha Hydroxyl Acid, to help reduce wrinkles and provides clean younger skin. It is wonderful with sunspots and sun damage and will stimulate collagen. It also has Beta Hydroxyl Acid to remove dead skin, stimulating new growth. The Caprylic Acid in Goat’s Milk reduces the alkalinity in the soap which is great in keeping the skins natural acidity to fend off bacteria and infection. It also has Lactic Acid to help repair damaged skin and stimulate growth of new cells. Lastly this wonderful product of nature is rich in natural Proteins and Vitamin A for healthy skin.

The Story of Truddles

 At Jonathan Kent our family has been making Goat’s Milk soap since 1913 at Hemlock Farms, the family homestead. Our first Goat, “Truddles”, was a lovely creature to behold. Truddles was of course a member of the family much to the displeasure of Mother Kent. When mother traveled to town for some shopping, her young son, Jack brought Truddles into the house even though he had been told many times not too. He knew that Truddles loved to sit in the living room and listen to the music coming from a new contraption, the crystal radio. Jack and Truddles sat there on the floor and Truddles head moved back and forth, ears perking up and down as the music played. Unfortunately for Jack and because he was a young boy, he had no idea that the lovely Truddles had a barnyard odor that permeated the house and Mother knew the moment she returned. Poor Jack and poor Truddles.

 This wonderful goat had a mind of her own and Truddles did not care for the fact that Mother Kent came to the barn each morning to milk her. Truddles felt that it was too early and that perhaps she should come back later, at a more suitable time. There was the usual, “NNNNAAA” as the difficult goat walked away. It is not known exactly what happened next. There is no record. We know that Truddles understood a few words of the English language, like “Come Truddles or Sit Truddles” but that was about all. She basically ignored everything that anyone said to her. But something happened one chilly morning in the barn. Mother Kent and Truddles sat down for a profoundly serious conversation and two new words entered Truddle’s small vocabulary, “Goat Stew.” From this moment onward, Truddles and Mother Kent had an understanding and when she arrived in the barn she said, “Good Morning Truddles.” and the goat stood straight as an arrow. “NNNNAAA,” responded the pretty creature. Mary went to work taking the glorious liquid from Truddles. She stroked her back when finished and said, “Thank you, Truddles,” and as she left the barn she heard, “NNNNAAA”.
